Waiting for a Baby

Hearing the story of "Waiting for a Baby" among the topics in the April issue of the "입트영" study material, I could relate to the storyteller's feelings. I, too, went through challenging times due to infertility.

​

When my husband and I couldn't conceive after four years of marriage, we went to get checked up. We were told at the clinic that chances were slim to none that we could conceive naturally. They suggested in vitro fertilization, and we took their advice. Fortunately, I became pregnant on our first try.

​

The birth of our first child was a huge blessing for us. After the first baby's first birthday, we conceived naturally and I became pregnant with our second. And now, four years after our second baby was born, I am pregnant with our third child at the age of 41.

​

I hope that my story can be a source of hope for prospective mothers eagerly awaiting a child. I also pray that the miracle that happened to me may happen to them as well.

그가 제시간에 맞춰 도착할 확률은 매우 낮다.

 

I still hope, but the chances are slim to none.

​나는 여전히 희망을 가져 보지만, 확률은 아주 희박하다.

 

3. take someone's advice : ~의 조언을 따르다 

 

We took the clinic's advice.

우리는 병원에서 권한 대로 하게 되었다.

 

I never regretted taking my parents' advice.

부모님의 조언을 따르고 후회한 적은 없었다.

 

I wish you would take my advice.

네가 내 조언을 좀 따라 주면 좋겠어.

Dialogue Practice

A : You said you received in vitro fertilization treatment, didn't you?

 

B : Yes, that's how we conceived our first child.

 

A : Was it the same deal for your second child?

 

B : Fortunately, we were able to conceive naturally that time.

 

A : I'm worried because it's been four years since I got married, and we still haven't conceived.

 

B : You should consider visiting a fertility clinic to get a check-up.
