My Son's Marriage
In September this year, our 32-year-old son will be tying the knot. For 32 years, except for about two years of military service, he has lived at home with his parents. But he is all grown up now, and about to set off on his own.
Our son had a brief period in school when he went astray and neglected his studies. But he graduated from college and is now hard at work at a small construction company. We are very proud of him. His bride-to-be is kind and beautiful, so we expect them to be very happy as a couple.
Our daughter got married early last year. Now that we're marrying off our son, my wife and I will finally be able to breathe a sigh of relief. I want to congratulate my dear son as he embarks on a new chapter of his life. And I also want to express my gratitude and appreciation to my wife for taking good care of him all this time.
Pattern Practice
1. set off on one's own : 독립하다, 혼자 나서다
He is all grown up now, and about to set off on his own.

We were very happy as a couple at first.

Dialogue Practice
A : Your son's wedding date is coming up soon, isn't it?
B : Yes, it's early next month.
A : It looks like you're really done raising him now.
B : I suppose so. It feels bittersweet to send him off after raising him for over 30 years.
A : Any parent can relate to that.
B : Your daughter tied the knot last year, didn't she? Is she happy?
