Memories with my Father

 

My father was quite a family man when I was in school. I have more memories with my dad than I do with my mom, who wasn't as affectionate. When I was in middle school, whenever exam season ended, my dad used to take me shopping at Dongdaemun's early morning market. Buying clothes and shoes late at night with my dad was really exciting. 

 

Even during high school, whenever I returned from the library in the early hours, my dad always made the stew I liked. He waited for me no matter what time it was. Now that I have my own children, I think I'm starting to fully grasp that the depth of a father's love is as vast as the ocean. 

 

My father is approaching seventy. Seeing the wrinkles on his face pains my heart. My only wish is that he will remain in good health and stay with us for a long time.

My dad used to take me shopping when my exams ended. 

시험이 끝나면 아빠는 나를 데리고 쇼핑을 하러 가 주셨다.

 

I get bored when my girlfriend takes me shopping. 

여자친구가 나를 데리고 쇼핑을 가면 너무 지루하다. 

 

I took my mom shopping last weekend. 

지난 주말에 엄마를 모시고 쇼핑을 다녀왔다. 

 

2. no matter what time it is : 시간이 몇 시든 

 

He waited for me no matter what time it was. 

그게 몇 시든 아빠는 나를 기다려 주셨다. 

 

They are always open, no matter what time it is. 

시간이 몇 시든 그곳은 항상 열려 있다. 

 

No matter what time it is, call me if there is any problem. 

문제가 생기면 시간이 몇 시든 언제라도 내게 전화를 해.

 

3. remain in good health : 건강을 유지하다 

 

My only wish is that he will remain in good health and stay with us for a long time.

건강하게 오래 우리 곁에 함께 계셨으면 하는 바람뿐이다.
