Medical Volunteer Work

 

I am a medical specialist working at a university hospital. I recently saw a scene in a TV show where the protagonist felt very rewarded by doing medical volunteer work in a rural area. I was deeply moved by that scene, and I felt the urge to participate in medical volunteer work myself.

As luck would have it, I came across a notice on the hospital bulletin board recruiting a medical volunteer team for a rural area in Gangwon Province. As soon as I saw it, I got permission from my professor and was selected to represent our department for the rural medical volunteer work.

​

It wasn't easy doing community service in a rural area, far from home and in hot weather. But seeing elderly patients smiling after receiving treatment from me was so rewarding that it made me forget all about the hardship. If given the opportunity, I would love to participate again.

 

Pattern Practice
