Trips to Hot Springs

 

Our family loves bathing in hot springs, so we travel across the country to visit them regardless of the season. Our preschooler son has been going into the men's hot spring baths with his dad since he was three years old. He really enjoys it because he can move between the hot, cold, and herbal baths and take his time bathing.

​

My husband, worried about any potential danger to our son, doesn't even step into the sauna room he usually loves. I feel sorry for my husband, but I get to enjoy the hot springs and sauna at a leisurely pace thanks to him.

​

Whenever we go out, it's hard for me as a mother to take my son to go potty because of our different genders. But at least when it comes to hot springs, there are some advantages to being of a different gender from my son.

 

Pattern Practice

1. regardless of the season : 계절을 가리지 않고 

 

We travel across the country to visit hot springs regardless of the season.

저희는 계절을 가리지 않고 전국에 있는 온천을 찾아다닙니다.

 

You can buy almost any kind of fruit these days, regardless of the season.

요즘은 계절을 가리지 않고 거의 무슨 과일이든 구입할 수 있다.

 

That place is always crowded, regardless of the season.

​그곳은 계절을 가리지 않고 항상 사람들로 붐빈다.

 

2. take one's time : 충분한 시간을 들이다 

 

He really enjoys it because he can take his time bathing.

그는 오래 목욕을 할 수 있어서 무척 좋아합니다.

 

You should take your time to avoid making any mistakes.

실수를 하지 않도록 충분한 시간을 들이는 것이 좋다.

 

I had so much to do that I couldn't take my time.

​나는 할 일이 너무 많아서 충분한 시간을 들이지 못했다.

 

3. not even step into : ~에 발도 들이지 않다

 

My husband doesn't even step into the sauna room he usually loves.

남편은 평소 좋아하던 사우나실을 잠깐도 못 들어간다고 합니다.

 

I didn't even step into PC rooms when I was a student.

나는 학창 시절에 PC방에는 발도 들이지 않았다.

 

Most people won't even step into that place because of the smell.

​대부분의 사람들은 악취 때문에 그곳에는 발도 들이지 않는다.

 

Dialogue Practice

A : What did you do over the weekend?

 

B : I went to a hot spring with my family.

 

A : Oh, really?

 

B : We find hot springs all over the country and visit them almost every month.

 

A : You must really be into them.

 

B : Yes, a banana-flavored milk tastes so refreshing and makes me happy after a hot spring bath.
