Our "입트영" and Parenting Group  

We are an "입트영" study group that first got started in the fall of 2016. After delivering our babies, it felt depressing and stifling to just stay at home all day. So, we formed a group where we could bring along our newborns to study.

The kids were so young at first that it was a chaotic mess of studying and childcare.

But as the kids grew older and started going to daycare, we gradually created an environment where we could really hit the books. That's when we started buying the "입트영" books and our studies began in earnest.

​

Over the years, the group has seen many changes due to members moving or returning to work. Even so, everyone's passion for learning has been top-notch, and we are now in our 8th year. Thanks to our diligent studies, one of the members and I even took the OPIc exam two years ago and achieved an IH grade, a big accomplishment for us.

 

Pattern Practice

1. just stay at home : 집에만 있다

 

It felt depressing and stifling to just stay at home all day.

하루 종일 집에만 있는 것이 너무 우울하고 답답했습니다.

 

I usually just stay at home on weekends.

나는 주말에는 주로 집에만 있는 편이다.

 

The weather was so nice that I couldn't just stay at home.

​ 날씨가 어찌나 좋은지 도저히 집에만 있을 수가 없었다.

 

2. really hit the books : 제대로 공부하다 

 

We gradually created an environment where we could really hit the books.

공부다운 공부를 할 수 있는 환경이 점점 만들어졌습니다.

 

I need to take a nap before I really hit the books.

본격적으로 공부를 하기 전에 한숨 자야겠다.

 

You can't really hit the books in such a noisy room.

​ 그렇게 시끄러운 방에서는 제대로 공부를 할 수가 없어.

 

3. passion for learning : 배움에 대한 열정 

 

Everyone's passion for learning has been top-notch.

모두들 배움에 대한 열정만큼은 대한민국 최고였습니다.

 

Her passion for learning at her age is admirable.

그녀는 그 나이에도 배움에 대한 열정이 대단하다.

 

I lost my passion for learning while working at my job.

​ 나는 직장에서 일하면서 배움에 대한 열정을 잃었다.

Dialogue Practice

A : How long have you been studying "입트영" as a group?

 

B : It's been almost 9 years now.

 

A : Wow, you've been at it for a really long time.

 

B : Yes, we first got started when our kids were born, and now they are already in grade school.

 

A : Have you been doing it continuously without a break?

 

B : Yes, pretty much. Meeting once a week to study together has become a part of our lives.
