Overseas Trip for a Big Family  

​

I am the eldest of four siblings, and my youngest brother is currently living in Japan. Thanks to the unprecedented weak yen and the close distance, we decided to plan a family trip to visit him.

​

We are a large family of 11 people, including my parents in their 70s, my younger sister and her husband, two nephews, the children's single uncle, and my family of four. With my brother and his wife joining us locally, it would be a major event with 13 family members.

​

Since our group includes men and women of all ages, there were many preparations to make. First, we needed to rent cars, so some of us prepared international driving permits. Second, we gathered basic medications and the prescription meds we were taking. Lastly, we signed up for short-term travel insurance and completed our preparations.

​

As with any trip, we expect some ups and downs, but we believe it will be a memorable experience and pray for a safe journey.

 

Pattern Practice

The travel group included my family of four.

Men and women of all ages seem to like him.

​남녀노소 불문하고 누구나 그를 좋아하는 것 같다.

 

3. some ups and downs : 우여곡절 

 

As with any trip, we expect some ups and downs.

모든 여행이 그렇듯이 우여곡절이 있을 것으로 예상합니다.

 

Some ups and downs are normal in any marriage.

어느 정도의 우여곡절은 어느 부부에게나 자연스럽게 있다.

 

We finally arrived after some ups and downs.

약간의 우여곡절 끝에 우리는 마침내 도착했다.

A : Didn't you mention you're planning a trip? Are the kids' passports ready?

 

B : Yes, but we had a hard time taking the passport photos according to the regulations.

 

A : Why? Is there some special regulation?

 

B : Not exactly, but it was hard to get them to look straight ahead since they're babies.

 

A : Still, it's always exciting to prepare for a trip.

 

B : Yes, and the kids are really looking forward to their first overseas trip.
