Crowdfunding

 

Crowdfunding is when consumers directly invest in the production costs of products that are still in development, helping to get them released.

The consumers can get early access to the products, and at a lower price.

Meanwhile, sellers can make up for the funds they lack, and bring their products to market.

It is a win-win for both early adopters who want to try out new products quickly and entrepreneurs who lack initial capital. However, consumers should think twice about crowdfunding. Since many products are still in development, the final product may differ from expectations. Sometimes, the product may be released later than anticipated or not at all, making it hard for investors to get their money back.

It's important to thoroughly go over what products the seller has sold in the past, as well as the reviews of those products.

The consumers can get early access to the products, and at a lower price.

소비자는 저렴한 가격으로 남들보다 빠르게 제품을 받아볼 수 있다.

2. a win-win : 모두에게 유리한 것 

 

It is a win-win for both early adopters and entrepreneurs.

얼리 어답터와 사업가 모두에게 유리한 방법이다.

 

It wasn't a win-win, but we all compromised.

모두에게 유리한 것은 아니었지만, 우리는 모두 타협을 했다.

 

I'm sure we can find a win-win solution to this problem.

3. think twice about : ~을 신중히 생각하다. 조심하다.

 

Consumers should think twice about crowdfunding.

소비자는 크라우드 펀딩을 신중하게 고려해야 한다.

 

You should think twice about going there alone.

그곳에 혼자 가려면 아주 조심하는 것이 좋다.

 

I would think twice about doing that if I were you.

​내가 너라면 섣불리 그렇게 하지는 않을 거야.

 

Dialogue Practice

B : I got it through crowdfunding.

 

A : What's that?

 

B : It's when consumers directly invest in a product before it's released and receive it as soon as it's launched.

 

A : Sounds like a win-win.
